Jam captures software moments so teams can understand what happened and fix it faster. A Jam can include the screen, audio, URLs, browser and device details, console logs, network requests, comments, and other context. Some of that context may include personal data.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, when we share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

When we say "Jam," "we," "us," or "our," we mean Jam, Inc. and its affiliates. When we say "Service," we mean our website at https://jam.dev, our app, browser extension, and related products and services.

If you use Jam on behalf of a company or organization, please also review the Data Processing Agreement in our Terms of Service.

By using the Service or submitting personal data to Jam, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Financial Data

If you use paid features, we may collect information needed to process payments, such as payment card details and authentication information. Payment information may be processed by our payment providers.

Communication Data

If you contact us with questions, support requests, feedback, survey responses, or market research responses, we collect the information you choose to provide.

Social Media Data

If you interact with Jam through social media pages, we may collect information you provide to us there, such as contact details or messages. The companies that host those pages may also provide us with aggregate information and analytics about interactions with our pages.

II. How We Use Data

We use Personal Data only when we have a valid reason under applicable law. Depending on the context, that reason may be:

  • to perform our Terms of Service or another agreement with you;

  • to comply with legal or regulatory obligations;

  • because we or a third party have a legitimate interest that is not overridden by your rights and interests; or

  • because you gave consent.

We use Personal Data for the following purposes:

  • To authenticate accounts and keep accounts secure.

  • To process payments for paid features.

  • To respond to questions, feedback, comments, and support requests.

  • To comply with legal obligations and legal processes.

  • To tell you about products or services we think may interest you, where allowed by law.

Aggregated and De-identified Information

We may aggregate or de-identify Personal Data so it no longer identifies you. We may use that information to understand how the Service works, improve Jam, build new features, conduct research, and share general usage statistics with partners or prospective partners.

Marketing

We may use your Personal Data to contact you about Jam products or services we think may interest you. Where consent is required, including in the United Kingdom or European Union, we will ask for that consent separately and clearly.

We do not sell your Personal Data to outside organizations for their own marketing. You can opt out of marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in our emails or by contacting us at hello@jam.dev. If you opt out of marketing, we may still send account, service, support, security, and administrative messages.

When you visit or log in to our website, cookies and similar technologies may be used by our online data partners or vendors to associate those activities with other personal information they or others have about you, including by association with your email address. We or our service providers may then send communications and marketing to that email address.

You may opt out of certain advertising by visiting https://app.retention.com/optout. You may also opt out of certain collection of personal data in compliance with GDPR at https://www.rb2b.com/rb2b-gdpr-opt-out.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to provide, secure, improve, and personalize the Service, understand usage, remember preferences, and support marketing where allowed by law.

Our Cookie Policy explains the cookies we use and how you can manage them.

III. Sharing, Retention, and Security

How We Share Personal Data

We may share Personal Data in the following circumstances:

Vendors and Service Providers

We share Personal Data with vendors and service providers that help us operate the Service and our business. These may include providers of hosting, cloud infrastructure, IT services, email communication, newsletters, advertising and marketing, payment processing, customer relationship management, customer support, analytics, security, and similar services.

These providers may access, process, or store Personal Data only as needed to perform services for us and in accordance with our instructions. We require service providers to use appropriate measures to protect Personal Data and to use it only to provide services to us and to you.

Business Transfers

If Jam is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of assets, or transition of service to another provider, Personal Data may be shared with counterparties and advisors as part of that process and may be transferred to a successor or affiliate.

Legal Requirements and Safety

We may disclose Personal Data if required by law or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to:

  • comply with a legal obligation, including national security or law enforcement requirements;

  • protect and defend our rights or property;

  • prevent fraud;

  • protect the personal safety of users or the public; or

  • protect against legal liability.

We may also disclose and exchange information with law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies when required to comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

How Long We Keep Personal Data

We do not keep Personal Data longer than necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

Generally, we store data until it is no longer needed to provide the Service or until your account is deleted, whichever comes first, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

When Personal Data is no longer needed, we will delete or anonymize it. We may continue to use aggregated or anonymized information that can no longer identify you.

Security

We use appropriate security measures designed to prevent Personal Data from being accidentally lost, used unlawfully, accessed without authorization, altered, or disclosed.

We limit access to Personal Data to people who have a genuine business need to access it. Those people must process the information only in an authorized manner and are subject to confidentiality obligations.

We also maintain procedures for suspected data security incidents. Where legally required, we will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected breach.

No internet or email transmission is fully secure or error-free. Please take care when deciding what information to capture in a Jam, send through the Service, or email to us.
